Comrade Russ

Comrade Russ
Originally uploaded by Finiky.

I used to work with Russ in Dallas, Tx. We've stayed in touch over the years. I will miss him. Please pray for his family. (comrade was nickname we shared between us)

Russ is senior anchor after nearly a decade here at USA (in his 42 year career), and is currently anchoring afternoon drive newscasts. Like John and Ron, Russ has the kind of professional, major-market/network sound that helps distinguish USA among other radio networks. He's the heart and soul of afternoon drive here as Russ cuts through the spin that biased newsmakers and other networks try to put on each day's news. Russ presents stories with the kind of perspective that most of our listeners -- and most Americans -- want, but seldom get, from their network news. During his career, Russ has been a Radio-TV News Director as well as an anchor and reporter with a resume that includes WBBM-TV in Chicago as well as WFAA and KRLD Radio in Dallas, among others. His TV reporting has been used on the NBC Evening News. Russ is also an author and trainer and was the National Broadcast Director for the Elkins Institute school of broadcasting in Dallas.
